Resumen
Wind energy has been used for a long time by humans, in different agricultural tasks such as milling grain, pumping water and other mechanical applications, however in recent times is using the energy produced by the wind production electricity for different uses. One of the most frequent uses is the lighting of workspaces; taking into account the conditions of wind speed in the city of Bogotá, the District University, through alternative energy group (GIEA.UD), it has the general objective selection of a wind turbine for lighting an office located on the third and top floor of the block 13 staffroom of the Faculty of Technology, in the town of Ciudad Bolivar at a latitude of 4.5791 degrees and a length of -74.1580 and 2,625 meters above sea level. To which took into account four specific objectives such as: the calculation of wind potential in the city of Bogota, energy demand (W) needed for office lighting, selection of the wind turbine according to multiple offers on the market (vertical and horizontal axis) and quipos and components necessary for the implementation of the wind turbine. It is clear above the data supplied by its own weather station located at the Faculty of Technology, which consists of an external unit that performs 16 measurements of variables such as temperature, humidity, wind direction and wind speed, among others, by taken sensors which transmit data by radio frequency to a handheld console, which allows connectivity to a pC where the data transmitted dare periodic reports which are properly organized and compared with data from stations such as the DEAMs are organized. With these data calculations necessary wind potential and average wind speed are performed to select the most appropriate wind turbine. This selection is made from a range of four possible alternatives previously studied; it is important to clarify that the use of the wind turbine is exclusively for office lighting, for which type LED technology is used.
