Resumen
In this edition of Voces y Regiones, the concept of cultural identity and the elements that strengthen it in the department of Tolima are explored. The interviewees highlight Tolima’s rich heritage, emphasizing its natural, climatic, and cultural diversity, which have been key in shaping its identity.
Tolima’s cultural identity is expressed through its traditions, festivals, gastronomy, and artistic expressions, such as the Colombian Folkloric Festival and Andean music, represented by the bambuco and sanjuanero rhythms. Its cultural diversity stems from indigenous, Afro-descendant, and Spanish influences, reflected in its dances, handicrafts, and popular expressions. Additionally, the region’s biodiversity, with landscapes ranging from mountains to rivers and plains, further enriches its identity, making Tolima a region with remarkable cultural and natural wealth.
