Resumen
The project "Romanticism in Times of Box Office" analyzes how Colombian cinema has represented the internal armed conflict following the implementation of Law 814 in 2003. Through a critical lens, the author questions the repetitive narrative models adopted by these productions, often influenced by tourism interests and the desire for recognition in international film festivals. The work explores how the conflict — including elements such as guerrilla groups, paramilitary forces, displacement, and corruption — has been used as raw material for cinema, generating collective imaginaries that may distort or oversimplify the complexity of the phenomenon.
From an autobiographical perspective, the author recounts his personal experiences during his time at Universidad Distrital, particularly during the 2011 student strike. These events prompted him to reflect on the media construction of the conflict and how his perception was shaped by television, cinema, and social media. His artistic work, including pieces like “El Collar del Terror” (The Necklace of Terror), aims to highlight how audiovisual products can trivialize or aestheticize horror. The project is structured in three chapters that combine cinematic analysis, visual creation, and a projection of ideas that were not fully developed.
