Abstract

The program “Voces y Regiones”, broadcast by Laud Estéreo 90.4 FM, featured an interview with Luis Fontalvo, president of the Federation of Community Action Boards of San Andrés y Providencia. During the conversation, critical issues for the region were addressed, such as problems related to the coverage of essential public services, including limited access to potable water and ongoing infrastructure efforts. Fontalvo highlighted the recent approval of a departmental public policy for communal action and efforts to renew the Juntas de Acción Comunal with a focus on the inclusion of youth and women in leadership roles. He also spoke about the fight against corruption in the department and the progress towards a more transparent management of public resources. The program highlighted educational projects, such as the virtual English courses led by SENA, and the advances in marine fish farming in saline waters. Finally, a call was made for national unity and the strengthening of the island identity as a model of community development for the entire country.
