Resumen
This radio program “Voces y Regiones” focuses on the roundtables and spaces for citizen participation around peace in Colombia. Leonidas Jiménez, representative of the Junta de Acción Comunal de Venta Quemada, is interviewed. He defines the participation tables as spaces to lead specific issues, especially in the context of peace. The importance of citizen participation in peace building, the weak participation of youth and the need to involve them through cultural and sports activities are discussed. It is emphasized that there is no age limit for participation and that the personerías, community action boards and ombudsmen's offices are ways to get involved. The benefits of these roundtables are highlighted: training of leaders and solution of local problems. The song “Un millón de amigos” by Roberto Carlos is mentioned as a positive message of unity. In the second part of the program, the importance of peaceful and organized citizen participation in the peace process is discussed. It criticizes the lack of citizen participation in issues such as tax reform and advocates for the inclusion of diverse voices, including peasants and community leaders, in peace discussions. The need to address the post-conflict with employment and self-sustainability policies is pointed out, as well as the transformation of the armed forces. Examples of organized citizen participation are mentioned, such as the Regional Conciliation Commission led by the Archbishop of Tunja and the work of the Venta Quemada farmers' society in promoting self-sustainable mining. The politicization of the peace issue is criticized, as well as the need to address the underlying social problems, beyond subsidies and perks. The importance of sustainable processes that address environmental, educational, cultural and tolerance aspects is highlighted. It concludes by emphasizing the need for solid policies for the reintegration of ex-combatants and the construction of a lasting peace. The audience is invited to participate through social networks and a cell phone number.
