Resumen
This work shows the progress, changes and unexpected events that the Colombian theatre and actors have been experiencing from the period known as « Nuevo Teatro » (New Theatre). After defining the term "company", "industry" and "cultural industry", Swiss company Teatro Malandro, created and led by Colombian master Omar Porras, is taken as an example of economic sustainability in the theatre industry in order to seek constructive criticism and, firstly, unveil once again the lack of interest from the national state in supporting the creation of a cultural industry which would allow the development of big companies and a fair treatment for the artists. Then, we will focus on the guarantees that the Colombian government is able to offer in order to improve the situation because, as we will finally explain, there is evidence that Colombian artist could be trained to be manager of artistic enterprises, as the company Teatro Malandro.
