Resumen
The document presents an artistic project developed in three stages: photographic, sculptural, and installation-based. The project, titled "Work on the Road," focuses on the destruction and remodeling of the urban landscape in Bogotá, Colombia, resulting from the expansion of Avenida El Dorado. The author captures images of broken streets, workers, and demolished buildings to create surreal photographs that stimulate the gaze and unsettle the imagination. In addition, debris found in the streets is selected for creating three-dimensional artistic interventions, seeking to recover pieces with special textures and shapes. Finally, these pieces are taken to the gallery space to be presented as artistic objects, highlighting their intrinsic value and their connection to the city's history.
The project explores the figure of the flâneur as a critical observer of the urban environment and is inspired by artists such as Giovanni Battista Piranesi and Eugene Atget. It analyzes destruction as a process inherent in urban development, which transforms cities and generates an abundance of waste. The author reflects on the memory of objects and their ability to evoke the city's history. Through the reuse of debris, the aim is to construct a new narrative from the ruins, highlighting the beauty and artistic potential of discarded materials. The project also addresses themes such as displacement, inequality, and the loss of identity in the context of urban renewal.
