Resumen
The radio program "Voices and Regions" addressed the issue of public space from various perspectives, including institutional, anthropological and social. Experts and local authorities participated to analyze the importance of public space in the city of Pasto and the challenges it faces. Key Points Discussed: • Definition and Dimensions of Public Space: Public space was defined as a common good of all citizens, with physical, political, social, economic and cultural dimensions. • Regulations and Management of Public Space: The importance of existing regulations and the need for comprehensive management of public space was highlighted, involving different ministries and entities. • Conflicts in the Use of Public Space: The conflicts generated by the use of public space were analyzed, such as the invasion of street vendors, the lack of respect for green areas and the deterioration of cultural heritage. • The Importance of Culture and Heritage: The need to preserve the cultural heritage and identity of the city through the protection of public space was emphasized. • Modernization and Sustainability: The relationship between the modernization of the city and the conservation of natural resources was discussed, as well as the importance of citizen participation in decision-making. • Challenges and Proposals: The main challenges facing public space were identified, such as pollution, lack of citizen awareness and the need to improve mobility. Solutions were proposed such as environmental education, citizen participation and the implementation of more effective public policies.
