Resumen
The Peón/Peatón Project is born of the interest, both in graffiti and rap lyrics. The analysis of these elements led to a study of their ideology and the way of seeing life. The practice of graffiti, in essence, implies a recognition of a certain territory in which it´s been done interventions carried out with different purposes and of different types and from there a graffiti culture is formed; This culture, at the same time expands by its own and is transformed into other types of practices, leaving the walls, invading other types of media and testing different materials, as can be seen in the use of stickers or posters. The inclusion of chess within the development of the project became important when it was proposed as a confrontation between Powers, different from the original game, where the fight is between equal forces of two monarchies, on the contrary, the project suggests an unequal battle in many ways between a side conformed by the people (pawns) and another conformed by a leader (king) being protected by its military force (bishops). The project is proposed at first as an intervention in the public space, like talking about performing a graffiti action, in which forty-eight pieces are set up in the form of a pawn, eight pieces in the form of a bishop and one piece in the form of a king, all made of plaster. And for a second moment, the pieces are installed in the form of a plastic work in an exhibition space.
