Resumen
Twenty minutes from Valledupar, the capital of Cesar, is Patillal, a mestizo town because of its location, as it borders the Guajira and it is only necessary to cross the Malena, a brook, to change departments. What most influences the miscegenation of Patillal is its proximity to the piedmont of the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta, a place considered “the origin, the beginning and the center of the world”, by the indigenous communities that have historically inhabited the area. My maternal family comes from this town, so for the realization of my degree project, I decided to investigate different ancestral practices that were once daily, but have gradually disappeared. Among these practices are the use of plants in the region for to dye and the foundation of the land, which generates a two-way relationship of ownership with it. The plastic proposal consists of an installation using fabric dyed with plants and stamped in ink made with land, both materials collected from Patillal, Cesar or its surroundings. In this way, the installation seeks to develop the concept of House, rather than as a protection from the outside, as a place of reunion with memory.
