Abstract

The present work develops an investigation, with a compositional purpose, around two ways of conceiving tuning in musical practice: equal temperament and just intonation. In the first place, the auditory organ is studied, delving into the perception of particular acoustic and psychoacoustic phenomena such as beating and critical bands. Secondly, the construction, characterization, and comparison of equal temperament and just intonation are mathematically covered, relating the concepts developed with musical and instrumental practices. Finally, the development and structuring of the musical composition Justo el caminar, el andar y el descubrir for flute, Tibetan singing bowl and live electronics is presented, in which all the concepts studied are applied.
