Resumen
Mosquitoes are insects that occupy an important category as transmitters of diseases, which have an economic and social importance around the world, where man is the most affected. The use of commercial insecticides, which include the application of synthetic agrochemical products, causes problems for human health, agricultural ecosystems, the environment in its broadest sense and resistance to them; therefore, taking into account the aforementioned, concerns arise regarding the objective of achieving mitigation of the dangers represented by the use of said insecticides. The fact of using alternatives based on natural extracts is a viable option, taking into account that we obtain a high effectiveness in the biological control of mosquitoes, avoiding the appearance of side effects that are harmful to the environment and the individuals that we find in it. In this monograph an exhaustive review of around 115 scientific articles and research reports was carried out in which it was possible to categorize the information on the biological control of mosquitoes, of which 7 are classified as repellants for oviposition, 8 ovicides, 96 for larvicide, 1 for another type of effect, 9 for insecticide and 15 for repellent, using botanical extracts, which were previously evaluated and with which we can evidence their use as a repellent or insecticide, verifying their effectiveness in stages corresponding to the inhibition of oviposition, larvae and adults.
