Resumen
This document contains the development and results of a research carried out at the Francisco José de Caldas District University by applicants for the degree in Mechanical Engineering. The purpose of this research exercise is to find a mathematical model that can predict the behavior of the stress-strain curve of a tempered AISI 1020 steel, simulate the behavior described by the model using finite element software and compare the results with trials of tension tests carried out under the ASTM E8 standard.
This work is the sequel to a series of research conducted by colleagues at the district university with the purpose of generating a large database that will be useful for the students who are to come. The development of these academic tools is intended to complement those activities that students perform in their usual courses in mechanics of materials such as mechanical testing and provide them with a parameter that serves as a point of comparison, or even that is its main tool in the development of new research.
