Abstract

This image contains news about the Provincial Council convened by our illustrious predecessor, of pleasant memory, which came to a happy conclusion thanks to the will of God, celebrating its last session on September 8, 1868, coinciding with the festival of the nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary. The approval of Pope Pius IX on July 27, 1869 was an important step in this process. Subsequently, synods have been held in several dioceses of this ecclesiastical province and the current curriculum has been established in the conciliar seminaries. The constitutions dictated by these assemblies have brought great benefits to the church, allowing the discipline that had been absent for a long time to be recovered. The meetings of prelates and clergy are essential to maintain and strengthen the faith of the faithful, as well as to unite the different dioceses that make up this ecclesiastical province. For this reason, the second Neogranadino Provincial Council is convened, seeking to continue strengthening faith and discipline. All priests are asked to pray the prayer of the Holy Spirit at mass from the moment they receive this communication until the conclusion of the council, except on first-class feasts. Furthermore, bishops are requested to promote this initiative in their dioceses so that everyone is informed and participates in prayer. The promulgation of these provisions is ordered in the metropolitan cathedral church and in the parishes, encouraging the faithful to unite in prayer so that, with divine grace, good government and sanctification of the flock may be achieved in this Holy Provincial Council.
