Abstract

This episode of the radio program Voces y Regiones, featured an interview with Julia Isabel Rodríguez, a social leader from San Andrés Islas who works in the Miss Nancy Lang Corporation, focused on the empowerment of women and youth of the island. During the talk, Rodriguez spoke about the social and political reality of women in San Andres, highlighting the importance of the Quota Law to guarantee their participation in political and labor spaces. In addition, topics such as the difficulties faced by women heads of households, the impact of machismo on the island and the tools needed to strengthen their rights and autonomy were discussed. The challenges faced by young people in accessing higher education, the diversity of jobs held by women and the need to promote economic independence were also mentioned. The program underscored the importance of making informed and responsible political decisions, as well as the impact of conscious voting in building a more equitable society.
