Resumen
The Termopaipa thermoelectric plant has been a fundamental part of Colombia's energy generation and supply system for many years. However, its long operating life has led to the aging and obsolescence of several of its systems and equipment, representing a significant technical challenge in ensuring its operational continuity and efficiency. In this context, this project focuses on addressing one of the relevant problems associated with technological wear and tear: the modernization of the fly ash transport and evacuation control system in one of its main units. The main objective is to conduct a technical study that lays the groundwork for future technological upgrades in this system and in the other units. This study includes the design of the control architecture and the definition of an appropriate programming logic for a modern controller, seeking not only integration with existing equipment but also to improve system reliability and efficiency. Additionally, the project also proposes some concrete solutions to recurring failures resulting from the physical and functional wear and tear of the current components. As a complement, an economic analysis is included that evaluates the costs associated with implementing this improvement, providing a comprehensive overview for decision-making in future stages of the modernization process for the plant's other units.
