Resumen
Tocancipá township, located in the department of Cundinamarca, is currently in rapid population growth, so it is vital to know the management made to the wastewater generated there. This document can appreciate the characterization made on each of the elements of the wastewater treatment plant (WWTP) that owns the municipality and its operating conditions and maintenance. As part of the evaluation of each of these components, precise indicators that helped establish the flaws found were taken. Deficiencies in the primary treatment, with respect to processes technical-operational, specific functions in maintenance, cleaning grates, grit chambers and channel Parshall, which aren’t performed frequently, were found showing that these activities aren’t supervised or monitored; as secondary treatment, it was verified that initially raised design isn’t the most appropriate for the current characteristics of the municipality, which is why the treatment system isn’t performing in the most efficient manner. The results obtained in the evaluation of the WWTP show a number of improvements, recommendations and suggestions in each of the processes in reference to both the primary treatment and secondary, in order to increase the quality of the effluent is discharged into the Bogotá River. However, it should be noted that population and industrial growth in the municipality of Tocancipá, leads to stake out a new method of wastewater treatment.
