Resumen
The image contains news about the proceedings of the visit carried out by the Mayor to the penitentiary and the police inspection on December 12, 1885. In the penitentiary, the Mayor and his team keep a detailed daily record of the number of inmates and detainees allowing precise control of the establishment. On that date, there were 357 prisoners, and the daily cost of rations amounted to $65.40. It is mentioned that prisoners who are entitled to cash ration have received it punctually, and that the penitentiary file is in order. Some sections of inmates assigned to specific tasks such as cleaning barracks and serving as gravediggers in a hospital also stood out. The importance of establishing work shops for prisoners is highlighted, which could generate significant savings for the Treasury and provide a productive occupation for prisoners. Subsequently, the Mayor visited the municipal police inspection, where he reviewed several summaries, ensuring that the procedures were carried out without delay. Material improvements in the neighborhood were highlighted and the chronological organization of the notes and documents in the inspection office file was ordered. News published in the Municipal Registry. December 20, 1885.
