Resumen
Joan Manuel Vargas Rojas' project explores the public restroom as a space for communication and reflection on intimacy and social functionality. The research analyzes how interactions in these spaces generate messages, often of a sexual or political nature, revealing censored aspects of society. Artists such as Marcel Duchamp and Miguel Angel Rojas are referenced to illustrate the reconceptualization of the restroom as an object of art, while Oscar Muñoz and José David Lozano contribute a more intimate and emotional vision of it.
Despite a tendency towards an aesthetic considered low, the restroom is transformed into a significant space that invites reflection on human existence, solitude, and cultural heritage, using various artistic techniques. The project also considers the language in the restroom as a form of introspective communication and photography as a means to capture the silence and subterranean expression of this space.
