Resumen
This research presents a spatial and temporal analysis of armed violence in the department of Arauca, Colombia, during the years 2021 and 2022. Using data from the Humanitarian Monitoring Unit of the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA), the study identifies patterns of violence linked to geographic elements such as proximity to national infrastructure and areas of hydrocarbon exploitation. The findings reveal that armed violence is highly concentrated in municipalities near key infrastructure, and these patterns are influenced by the socio-political context, including electoral periods. This research, resulting from an internship at the NGO iMMAP, also aims to contribute to the prioritization of humanitarian response, providing critical information for the development of public policies and intervention strategies aimed at reducing violence and improving human rights protection in the region.
