Resumen
This image contains news that a rumor has circulated that the government would decree the expulsion of the fathers of the Society of Jesus who reside in the territory of the Republic. Although initially this rumor was dismissed out of confidence in the patriotism of the illustrious citizen in charge of the destinies of New Granada, whose inviolable adherence to the Constitution, the laws and respect for the rights of the church would prevent a measure so contrary to the guarantees individual, such as priesthood immunity, concern has grown, this rumor has spread and gained credibility in the city, causing concern among parents and guardians of children educated in the minor seminary. These parents have asked the head of the Granada church to intervene to avoid the damage that the expulsion of the preceptors could cause to education. In response to these concerns, and in his capacity as natural protector of the priests of the archdiocese and defender of the order and prosperity of the Republic, the head of the Granada church has decided to address the government. He has requested information on this serious matter, hoping that the citizen president may provide some words of comfort to calm his anxiety and that of many people who are concerned about the progress of religious education and the preservation of the rights of the church. News published in the newspaper El catolicismo, No. 16, June 15, 1850.
