Resumen
The Eco - Pet project seeks to improve the management of special waste, specifically the excrement of domestic animals in the Esmeralda Park in the town of Teusaquillo. A case study was conducted to analyze the current conditions of the park, focusing on responsible pet ownership, public health, and excrement management. Tools such as observation, checklists, maps, waste characterization, and photographic records were used for the study, which allowed the identification of environmental problems and their causes. Observation provided a baseline for designing a technological proposal for excrement management, while interaction with the community revealed a lack of knowledge about the consequences of open-air fecalism and the disorganization of neighbors to demand solutions. The analysis concludes that there is a deficiency in the management of the park by the Teusaquillo Local Mayor's Office and a lack of inter-institutional coordination to address this environmental problem. Based on these findings, strategies are proposed that focus on promoting a change in citizen culture towards better environmental management, involving the community, improving infrastructure, and establishing effective control and monitoring to resolve this problem.
