Resumen
The image contains a news item about a letter addressed to Mr. President of the Philanthropic Society, Luis M. Silvestre praising the notable acts of generosity and philanthropy of Mr. Francisco Chapoul, a French citizen. Chapoul, who had served as a servant to Dr. Arganil for sixteen years, decided to accompany his master in her times of financial difficulty and old age, resigning from his employment to provide him with financial support. Despite his limited resources, Chapoul cared for Arganil with affection and decorum. Furthermore, Dr. Arganil lacked resources other than basic needs, and Chapoul cared for him with immense affection. When Dr. Arganil passed away, Chapoul provided a proper burial and continued his generous philanthropy. Silvestre highlights Chapoul's moderation and selflessness, considering it a virtuous and sublimely philanthropic act. He concludes his letter by hoping that the jury can recognize the noble acts of this foreign citizen and suggests that these facts come to the attention of the French government. News published by the newspaper El Constitucional De Cundinamarca, Bogotá (71), January 15, 1843.
