Resumen
The image contains a news story about General Daniel Florencio O'Leary who observes a transformation in Bogotá during the process of centralization of the Republic in the 19th century. Previously, the city was considered backward and rustic, but with centralization, it experienced an increase in civilization and wealth. The laws were followed and taxes were applied more gently in the capital. The arrival of foreigners and seekers from the provinces contributed to the increase in the circulation of money and luxury. Political discussions and the press expanded the understanding of civil rights, which also boosted the sciences and arts in the city. Bogotá in 1826 showed signs of modernization and surpassed many other cities on the South American continent. News published in the newspaper La Familia, Volume 11, November 7, 1884.
