Abstract

This document presents the design of a reverse vending machine linked to a mobile application, which corresponds to a technological tool that could contribute to the proper management of reusable solid waste in the city of Bogotá. The design of the application-linked reverse vending machine consists of market characterization, verification of design and functionality characteristics, and evaluation of the financial viability of the product. To characterize the product market, the offer of similar products in the market is initially evaluated in order to establish possible competition, then the potential demand for the product is evaluated to determine if it could be competitive, determine possible channels and strategies for marketing and evaluate possible strategic allies. This is done through surveys of possible users and bibliographic review. In order to verify the design characteristics and functionality of the product, it is determined which would be the optimal location for the product, so that it allows reaching as many users as possible, then the design characteristics of the product are determined to be easy to use, interactive, and generate environmental awareness in users. Then the functional characteristics of the product are determined, which are, in general, the link to a mobile application by means of a QR code and the collection and separation of reusable solid waste. Finally, to evaluate the financial viability of the project, the costs and income, the opportunity interest rate, the sale price of the product are estimated, the different possible scenarios are analyzed, the different indicators are calculated and finally the financial statements are projected of the project.
