Jardín Seco was originally written and dedicated to the experimental music ensemble "doble cero carnicero." The piece consists of five moments, each understood as an action or transformation of sound, but always within an uninterrupted flow. The work revolves around a central pitch, with its evolution presented as a convergence and divergence around this single note. The overall feeling the piece suggests is one of serenity and stillness. The collaboration with the ensemble focused on each performer finding an internal state that allowed them to convey these sensations through their playing. Listening is a fundamental part of this piece; although we were isolated and couldn't play together, we used the technological tools at our disposal to create a version that allowed us to hear and interact with one another through sound. The five moments of the piece are: As austere and calm as possible. The gentle swaying of a tree's branches. Like a prism. Exactly the same as the second moment. Returning to nothingness.
