Resumen
In the city of Bogotá D.C an opportunity for improvement in the use of post-consumption PET materials is identified, since it presents a low rate of recycling of these materials. Based on the data published by the Special Administrative Unit of Public Services, where it is determined that the projection of the useful life of the Doña Juana Landfill (RSDJ) is out of date and that the current waste disposal levels continue to be Bogotá would need a new landfill in the medium term, as mentioned previously, there is a high disposition of post-consumption PET materials in the RSDJ, a problem that is maximized due to different factors such as the weak knowledge of the population regarding the techniques of separation at the source and recycling, to which the administration public does not generate sufficient policies that encourage recycling in the population, to which there are no efficient mechanisms for the separation of solid waste at the source, to which the business sector continues to produce this material in large masses without plans for recycling and they have found alternatives for the informal recycler to find value in recycling this type of materials, taking into account their volume in relation to their weight, considering the previously described, this study aims to formulate and evaluate an investment project for the implementation of a post-consumer PET disposition and collection model in schools and centers with high demographic concentration in the city of Bogotá D.C.
