Resumen
The image contains news about the portrait of Bolívar, created by José María Espinosa and exhibited at the Great Concert on October 23, which has generated admiration. The artist's mastery is highlighted and it is suggested that this portrait should include new dates, such as the birth in 1780, the death in 1830, and a symbolic "resurrection" in Bogotá in 1863. The text criticizes Mosquera and the liberals, accusing them of betrayal and alliance with enemies of the country. The comparison between Bolívar and Mosquera is questioned, emphasizing the contrast between their actions. In addition, Espinosa is thanked and it is suggested that the work be reproduced on cards, but it is warned about the risk of the portrait falling into the hands of Mosquera, considered the "Debtor of Colombia". On another issue, the creation of an academy is announced of painting and drawing by the subscriber, with the purpose of promoting fine arts and contributing to the education of youth. The teaching plans are detailed, the space is limited to twenty young people under 14 years of age, and a monthly fee of three pesos is established. The importance of drawing in various areas is highlighted, comparing it with arithmetic and geometry, and the intention to acquire materials from Europe to achieve a complete academy is mentioned. The announcement concludes with reflections on the advantages of the fine arts and the confidence that the academy will be a valuable adornment to the city. News published by the newspaper El Bogotano, No. 14, (November 3, 1863).
