Abstract

Dr. Carlos Javier Mosquera highlights the importance of the representation of the Distrital University in the National Intersectoral Commission for the Quality Assurance of Higher Education (CONACES). He emphasizes that this participation is not only a personal achievement based on academic expertise, but a key institutional endorsement that elevates the prestige of the university. The selection process to join this commission is described as highly rigorous, demanding technical tests and interviews, which confirms the high level of the Distrital's faculty and their direct contribution to strengthening institutional accreditation and the university's visibility in the national context. Regarding the Ministry of Education's roadmap, two major challenges are announced: the formation of a "School of Academic Peers" to train rectors and faculty in evaluation processes, and the review of the implementation of Decree 1280 of 2018 to ensure that the system evolves without stagnation. Mosquera underscores that Colombia is a regional benchmark in quality systems and that the verification work of academic peers is fundamental to guaranteeing excellence in undergraduate and postgraduate programs, as well as maintaining confidence in the processes of degree validation and the creation of new institutions
