Resumen
In this section of Voces y Regiones, a female leader from the San Jorge Network of Afro-Colombian Women discusses the creation of the organization, which was established to strengthen the participation, leadership, and empowerment of Afro-descendant women in the region.
She highlights the various projects aimed at supporting women in areas such as self-esteem, human rights, political participation, and influencing public policy. These initiatives seek to raise awareness and drive social change, promoting the recognition of women’s rights in rural and ethnically diverse contexts.
The discussion also touches on the situation of rural women, particularly their struggles with land ownership. The leader emphasizes the barriers women face in accessing and legalizing land, which directly impacts their economic autonomy and their role as rights-holders within the territory.
