TRANSPORT of goods from Bogota Warehouses to Bogota
The import trade of this plaza feels every day the effects of the lack of competition in the freight rates of the merchandise that is transported from the Bogota warehouses. There are cases, such as at present, in which the agglomeration of packages of merchandise in warehouses, the lack of competition in the freights and the interests of each one, establish high prices for the transport of the cargoes, without it being possible to establish in such circumstances. remedy promptly, so as to avoid loss of interest for the entire time that the merchandise is in storage, until the drop in freight prices resolves the merchants who have large shipments in advance, to have them come, to put in business their genders. Not until now has thought been given to the means that the Bogotá business should use to avoid this serious inconvenience. In situations similar to the current one, it has been thought that commerce could take that of these transports as its own business; but that idea must have run aground, because they wanted to give it an application to the Situation that they have tried to overcome. Suppose that one hundred merchants import Bogota annually forty thousand packages, not in equal parts, but in any proportion. It has been thought that these hundred merchants, each in proportion to their imports; They could dedicate a certain sum, so that, with a sufficient total, he could subdue the company; Avoid paying high freight charges. So far there is no problem: but going to practice it is impossible. carry out such a purpose for a completely wrong reason as the same trade understands its interests. Imagine that those one hundred importing merchants, each giving a certain amount of money in proportion to their businesses, disbursed five thousand pesos of law. 'but here's the downside; How could the burden of all those involved be lifted at the same time so that there would be no rivalry between the same merchants? Or how to reconcile the interests of all so that there would be no room for complaints against the employer of the company that was in charge of dispatching the shipments? This is the inconvenience since this reconciliation is impossible to everyone's satisfaction, being how all the efforts made to establish an equitable apportionment must be in vain.
Here is the point that we think is wrong. The establishment of a company of this nature would not have the objective of directly favoring its entrepreneurs; but it does favor them indirectly and effectively favoring competition, in freight prices, at all times. Now, there is no doubt that if today, for example, there are six hundred mules that can make a weekly trip, the freight rates are at pesos 6---40 de lei, tomorrow there will be eight hundred or more (that the company could well be given all the development that demanded) freight rates would drop to much less than that price. That is, it would be cheaper and soon the transport. We see in these terms the convenience of a similar company, and not in the fact that so-and-so's loads were brought by so-and-so or so-and-so. The interests of the Bogotá business are very considerable, for you to give so little importance to this matter, in which it can take a great part just by studying the party that really suits it.
