Resumen
The objective of this research work is to determine a strategy for rainwater harvesting in Colombia, in order to ensure a better sustainability of water resources, as well as to avoid natural disasters, such as floods caused by the accumulation of rainwater in specific places, using home automation. It is proposed the realization of a prototype that, through a system of sensors, allows to measure the climatic conditions, such as temperature, pressure, humidity and rain precipitation. These sensors will send a signal that will activate the electronic mechanism of the awning, deploying a platform that will allow the collection of rainwater in a system of sensorized tanks. In this way, it will be possible to use the collected water in the areas where it is needed and to avoid excessive sunlight in the place where it is installed. The estimated cost for the implementation of this system is $13'500,000 Colombian pesos, and it is expected to be developed within six months. The implementation of a rainwater collection system through the use of home automation is an initiative that contributes to the sustainability and preservation of the environment. In addition, its development can generate economic and social benefits for the country.
