Valoración económica del impacto por vertimientos en el río Chicamocha sobre la salud humana de la vereda la Costa, municipio Soatá Boyacá

Abstract

It is important to maintain a healthy waterbody because of the eco-systemic services that it provides, allowing a proper operation of organisms, regulating the ambient temperature, making easier the transport of nutrients, playing a key role in biogeochemical cycles, besides of being the vital natural element that allows the development of living beings. One of the goals of the millennium is to fight against environmental deterioration, which is why the care and maintenance of waterbodies is a matter of great importance, maintain and improve the environmental capacity of ecosystems is an objective to work on from different fields of study.This research project allowed to determine the relationship between water quality and the human health, starting from a situational diagnosis that allows to recognize the current status of the area of study and identifying the negative impacts that human activity has on the Chicamocha river. From there, the costs of treatment and prevention of diseases caused by pollution are estimated and connected to the results obtained in the initial phase of the research project, in such a way that the information obtained allows us to formulate programs focused on improving the waterbody’s quality, as well as teaching the affected population how to reduce the possibility of occurrence of diarrheal events in the human beings living in the village of la Costa in Soatá, Boyacá.
