Resumen
In this section of the Voces y Regiones program, the guest discusses the Peace and Human Rights Observatory at the University of Tolima, an initiative aimed at training the population in democratic culture and conflict resolution. Through this training, the observatory seeks to raise awareness and encourage the community to embrace the importance of peace in the region, promoting a culture of respect for human rights and peaceful coexistence. The Observatory also plays a crucial role in research, monitoring conflict situations, and disseminating strategies for building a more just and equitable society.
Such programs are essential in Colombia, a country marked by decades of internal armed conflict. Initiatives like the Observatory are part of the efforts to achieve lasting peace, teaching younger generations to handle conflicts in a non-violent manner and to value human rights. Additionally, these programs encourage active citizen participation in building a democratic environment, promoting social inclusion and the peaceful resolution of disputes within the community.
