Abstract

This research and innovation study focuses on analyzing the underlying causes of underutilization of El Porvenir Metropolitan Park in Bosa, Bogotá, with the aim of proposing sustainable strategies to maximize its social, economic, and environmental potential. The work includes an overview of the park's location, structural components, and current condition, along with the central problem: its disuse. To address this, a mixed-methods design is proposed: quantitatively, user surveys and planned observations; qualitatively, interviews with park managers and potential users to explore barriers and strengths, both socioeconomic and cultural. The collected data are processed to interpret the results, and the park's economic impact on the surrounding community is also assessed. Observational evidence indicates that factors such as deteriorated or incomplete infrastructure, insecurity, poor lighting, low visibility, and limited activity diversity limit intensive use of the park. Based on these findings, a comprehensive management model is proposed, emphasizing environmental care, routine maintenance, safety, effective communication, and community participation, to improve the park and prevent its irreversible deterioration.
