On July 4, 1860, the Mayor made a visit to the district collection office in accordance with article 362 of the Tax Code, corresponding to the month of last June. During the inspection, the books, balance sheets and documents of the office were carefully examined, revealing a balance in income from mortgages, records and direct contributions that amounted to 1,605 pesos, coinciding with the expenses reported by the collector in the Departmental Administration. Despite the directives issued by the Secretary of the Treasury to regularize this situation, it could not be fulfilled due to the absence of González, the only person familiar with the pending transactions.
