Resumen
This internship work shows in principle the description of the satellite images of the ABI sensor of the GOES- 16 satellite of NASA and NOAA, to know its importance in terms of the remote sensing of phenomena
present in the atmosphere and above all, those phenomena Dangerous for aviation and in general for operations areas. It is about the definition and structuring step by step of the reading of satellite images and their respective processing by means of the methodology of differences of brightness of temperature of the band 8 (water vapor) and the band 13 (clean window of the infrared) for find the convective nuclei or cloud tops in order to be of help to give a better approach to the detection of clouds of vertical development such as cumulus clouds, torrecumulus (TCU) and cumulonimbus (CB). The work was carried out taking into account the reading of images of NetCDF format, scientific data exchange format that is currently implemented globally. The area of interest corresponds to the Colombian territory for the period of time from the month of January to the month of June of the year 2019 studying the specific case of April 17 from 17:00 UTC to 19:30 UTC approximately , resulting in the definition of convective stops finding temperature differences ranging from 3 ° K to -1 ° K. Although the software presented problems, the methodology shows that it is applicable if there are processes of accuracy from the reading of the image to the implementation of the temperature brightness with their respective enhancements, making these processes can serve the Aerocivil and security of air operations in Colombia.
