Resumen
The main objective of this undergraduate thesis is to evaluate an alternative for treating organic waste generated in the district markets of Bogotá, based on environmental management and sustainable development. This project will develop an alternative using biodigesters for the generation of biogas, biofertilizers, and compost, three important resources that would add value to the marketplaces. They can use biogas as an energy source and also commercialize the resulting biofertilizer and compost. In the diagnostic stage, data is collected from various sources of information regarding the quantity and type of waste generated in the marketplaces to determine the specific characteristics of the biodigesters. With the collected information and performing the respective calculations, the amount of biogas generated and the approximate dimensions of each biodigester can be determined according to the marketplace where it will be installed. This allows for a more solid proposal in case they decide to implement it as an alternative for organic waste treatment. As a result of our study, the design of a 20,000 liters biodigester was proposed, which will produce approximately 2.12 m3 of biogas for every kg of waste deposited inside the biodigester. This biogas can be used to operate gas appliances and even for energy generation.
