Resumen
The objective of this study was to identify the biological and biomechanical risk factors for work accidents in the emergency department of a Hospital in Bogotá, based on the perception of nursing assistants through an observational, descriptive, cross-sectional investigation, with a study population of 25 nursing assistants who at the time belonged to the adult emergency service and their working hours were between the morning, afternoon and night shifts. A survey was applied that was validated by an expert to collect the information and was tabulated in the IBM SPSS Statistics 19® program. The results obtained show that the target population was divided into 17 women and 8 men, of which 84% reported that they have received training related to the risks to which they are exposed while carrying out certain work, 92% report that they have knowledge In order to carry out their work safely, in specific cases such as retreading already used needles, it is evident that 76% of those surveyed do it, 32% never take active breaks during their workday and 52% evidence the lack of knowledge about personal protection elements for invasive procedures. In conclusion, the continuous training of auxiliary nursing personnel does not ensure that they carry out their activities safely, so it is suggested to periodically monitor the activities carried out by nursing personnel to verify and evaluate compliance with protocols and measures. of safety in their assigned tasks, it is also recommended that the occupational safety, hygiene and health program carry out clear interventions in which the personnel can see the risk as something real and that it is possible to modify the behaviors associated with their perception.
