Resumen
In medium voltage substations, the equipment responsible for opening or powering a circuit is the circuit breaker, but in the event of a failure, it does not have the ability to open itself such as switches at low voltage; It is for this reason that they should be led by another device called multifunction protection relay, which contains all the signals needed for proper operation, such as binary inputs and outputs, analog voltage and current signals, communication ports among others. To ensure proper operation of these devices must make the appropriate protection settings and verify simulating faults inherent in these settings. To perform adequate testing is needed versatile and simple tests so that an engineer or technician can perform specialized testing systems such as protective relays. In this document shows the principles of operation of the secondary injection equipment Omicron CMC, the explanation of the most common medium voltage protection, as well as how to make these adjustments in the leading brands of relays used in projects developed are presented by the Schneider Electric company in Colombia and a detailed explanation of how the tests should be made of each of the functions most relevant protection.
