Resumen
The project presents a Territorial Vulnerability Index to CO₂ emissions in Colombia for the year 2023, along with its implementation in the interactive geovisor CO2Map Colombia, which facilitates its consultation and spatial analysis. This initiative arises because, although global databases on emissions exist, Colombia lacks a public tool that contextualizes this variable to the national territory in a clear manner and allows consultation at the departmental level. To develop the index and its implementation in the geovisor, several sources of information were integrated: CO₂ emissions from the global EDGAR inventory filtered for Colombia in 2023, population data from the DANE 10K statistical grid, and land-cover information from CORINE Land Cover 2020. Using these inputs, the Territorial Vulnerability Index (TVI) was constructed, representing in a synthetic way the interaction between its components. Subsequently, the geovisor was implemented in Google Earth Engine, which made it possible to leverage its ability to handle large datasets and the versatility of the JavaScript API to provide functionalities such as departmental selection, descriptive statistics, and histogram visualization. The result is an accessible and user-friendly tool that simplifies the interpretation of complex information on emissions and territorial vulnerability through the TVI, enabling the identification of areas that exhibit higher environmental pressures and providing useful inputs for decision-making in territorial planning and environmental management.
