Resumen
This study investigates the impact of urbanization on the Juan Amarillo–Tibabuyes wetland, located in Bogotá, Colombia, over the period 1955–2024. The research aimed to analyze the interactions between urban growth and the wetland in order to provide insights for conservation policies and to promote sustainable urban development in the region. To achieve this, the Driving Force Pressure State Impact Response (DPSIR) framework was applied, enabling the identification of key indicators that capture the pressures exerted on the ecosystem, including population dynamics, urban densification, and land-cover change. A multitemporal analysis was conducted to characterize the functional state of the wetland, revealing a progressive decline in its ecological functions. Furthermore, the study examined the environmental impacts and the responses undertaken by public authorities and local communities, offering an integrated perspective on the wetland’s reduction process. The findings underscore the need to strengthen restoration strategies, land use planning, and community participation to safeguard the ecological integrity of the Juan Amarillo–Tibabuyes wetland.
