Resumen
This paper addresses the perception and relationship of sixth grade high school students in a school in the north of Bogota, Colombia, with the notion of knowledge of the Sun and, consequently, of astronomy. A qualitative methodology was used in this research, employing a questionnaire with open-ended questions to understand their impressions and reflections. The results allowed us to establish categories such as solar movements, sunspots and relative sizes, highlighting that, although some students had notions of the sun's movements, they did not have a clear understanding of the sun. that, although some students had previous notions about the sun, observation with telescopes generated more rewarding experiences. Despite the introduction of astronomical concepts in the curriculum, students fail to relate this knowledge to their actual solar observation experiences, evidencing the need to connect educational content more closely with observational practices to improve their astronomical understanding.
