Resumen
The growing influence of digital technologies in daily life has significantly transformed the way young students communicate and express themselves. Digitally mediated communication practices, such as social media, have altered adolescents' ability to adapt their communication style to different social and cultural contexts. This thesis investigates how sexual expressions among school-aged youth are mediated through Instagram and TikTok. Using a qualitative methodology, it is concluded that adolescents' sexualities are strongly influenced by the consumption of these social networks. Participants indicate that these platforms affect the construction of their identities through visual, musical, and especially through their own language and codes. It is concluded that sexualized content negatively impacts the mental health and self-image of adolescents, leading them to harmful comparisons and, in some cases, to disconnect from social networks.
