Resumen
This paper addresses the conservation of photographic heritage in the Colombian context. Its aim is to analyze best practices in conservation by comparing current practices among national entities. It also examines national regulations and international standards, such as those of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) and the International Council of Museums (ICOM). Using a qualitative methodology that includes documentary analysis and information systematization, the research seeks to identify shortcomings and highlight strategies and progress in the conservation of Colombian photographic heritage. The main authors incorporated concepts of preventive conservation, curative restoration, and digitization, as well as regulations established by the General Archive of the Nation and international standards from organizations such as UNESCO. This research also establishes the current state of conservation, to contextualize efforts in the management of photographic archives in the country; the results show progress in the adoption of preventive conservation practices and digitization
