" Pretending to have a better approach and understanding of music, it is convenient to use tools that facilitate their analysis, study and observation. Listening is a tool, with which we obtain our own impressions and make conclusions according to the received level of sound. Another highly useful tool is access to scores and/or musical analysis, with which there is a written description that details the instrumental behavior in the songs. These tools were used for the present analysis and allowed the deduction and recognition of characteristics and patterns in the two songs of Dave Matthew's Band, a US group that has a journey of almost three decades, with different productions in which the strength, versatility and creativity in their music. From the previous study and the search for material related to the present work of degree, were located among others, books, web articles and audiovisual products on the arrival of the battery to the rock and folk rock genre, which is relevant for this investigation since these are the genres in which the discography of the band Dave Matthew's band and its drummer Carter Beauford is developed. To finalize this work a concert will be held in which I will show and explain the results obtained in the present work, this will be done by breaking down and interpreting the two selected songs with the greatest similarity and possible approach to the performance of drummer Carter Beauford.Ítem Entre lo evanescente y lo duradero. First, it approaches the concept of community searching in some disciplines to give it a context, then, the notion of common-unit and common-union is exposed to understand the difference between singulars acting together and the dissolution of singulars that also act together but in a union that makes music possible. Second, a brief approach to the history of the block recording is presented and is highlighted the importance of capturing the moments of high interpretative performance, which with a common space-time, transits from the evanescent to the enduring. Finally, the experience raised from the assembly of the topics is addressed, with the assembly of the themes, of dialogues that are condensed in a diagnosis applied to each musician, and the experience of recording in block.Ítem EP. Although Songwriting is an inherent element of the work developed here, the truth is that covering this topic with a certain level of depth would require another document as extensive as this one, be cause of this and other reasons, as the challenge of analyzing from an intellectual point of view the depths of the being related to inspiration, and musical creation as a human emotional product, I have decided to put these issues aside and dedicate myself to analyzing the technical aspect of songs and his arrangements, leaving aside matters related to composition. In this way, this work proposes documenting a professional experience within musical production, which includes the analysis of the works and the methodology of pre-production (arrangements). In this document the reader can find several sections; After the introduction, a couple of chapters will be included that break down key terms of the language used for the analysis of the works, then will come the subsequent study of them, and, finally, a series of conclusions will be made that frame the work of research and creation described here.Ítem El Gabostyle adaptaciones y exploraciones tímbricas para batería de los patrones rítmicos de la salsa, cha cha chá, son, bolero, bachata y merengue, usando la técnica extendida auto desarrollada de la mano izquierda-baquetaAdames Bermúdez, Gabriel Arturo; Alvarado, LeonardoThe following thesis documents the author's exploration of six latin rhythms through a creative, experiential and analytic process using an audiovisual and written medium. The Gabostyle technique presents a new approach on the drum set, expanding its timbral possibilities, enabling its use in different scenarios and musical contexts by the performer. The dissertation starts by introducing the context about the development of the Gabostyle using historical, academic and musical references. The introduction also describes part of the history of the drum set and its integration in latin music, the definition of the extended technique concept, the specific and general objectives which are expected to be achieved, the justification and the author’s creative backgrounds. All of the aforementioned establishes a solid foundation for the development of the content which is presented in three parts. The first chapter features different aspects of the Gabostyle technique, explains its meaning, the snare drum preparation, the correct position of the left hand and the drumstick. The chapter also includes examples of reading rhythmic systems prior to the approach of the technique and a musical notation table to be used for the interpretation of the scores. The second chapter contains the analysis and adaptation proposals for the following latin rhythms: Salsa, Cha cha chá, Son, Bolero, Bachata and Merengue. Furthermore, some of the adaptations in this approach may contain possible variations for their interpretation. Part of this material includes supplementary audiovisual content. The third chapter features two solos for drum set which have been performed and transcribed by the author, including supplementary audiovisual content. The texts of the songs are taken from the reading and interpretation of the Bible, which is a widespread practice that occurs under the current of protestant christianity. From the texts are produced musical symbols that represent the concepts pertaining to christianity that are supported by biblical texts and that are exposed before, to identify how this proposal of creation causes a dialogue between two systems, christianity and music. To contextualize the reader, a brief description of the musical semiotics, christianity, the Bible, Jesus the Christ, the history of christian music, as well as some musical references in which the musical evidences represent the text that belongs to the work.
