Estas cumplen un rol fundamental en los ecosistemas donde habitan, ayudando a controlar poblaciones de roedores e interactuando con diversas especies.Esta monografía presenta una aproximacion a la historia natural de Bothrops en Colombia, abordando aspectos como su distribución geográfica, hábitat, ecología, comportamiento, dieta y reproducción. Además, se analizan sus adaptaciones morfológicas y fisiológicas, que les permiten prosperar en ambientes que van desde selvas húmedas hasta regiones secas.Este trabajo busca aportar al conocimiento sobre el genero Bothrops en Colombia, destacando su importancia ecológica y la necesidad de implementar estrategias de conservación y educación ambiental.The genus Bothrops (Viperidae) comprises several species of venomous snakes widely distributed in Colombia. They play a fundamental role in the ecosystems they inhabit, helping to control rodent populations and interacting with diverse species. This monograph presents an overview of the natural history of Bothrops in Colombia, addressing aspects such as their geographic distribution, habitat, ecology, behavior, diet, and reproduction.
