El visor pretende ser una herramienta para la determinación preliminar de zonas con potencial para exploración geológica – geotécnica, en el departamento de Chocó, debido a la pertinencia del mismo en el POT de este departamento. Los datos iniciales fueron de tipo abierto en formato shapefile, a partir de los cuales se generaron nuevas capas por medio de modelos en ArcGIS. El resultado obtenido fue la reutilización de Postgres para el respaldo de la información base, GeoServer para el almacenamiento y GeoExplorer para la publicación web, dentro del paquete OpenGeo Suite 4.8. El visor muestra las áreas donde existe menor impacto ambiental, social y operativo, representada como capas temáticas por unidad litológica; pudiendo un usuario final especializado visualizar información general, además de otras funcionalidades, y ponderar de acuerdo a necesidades propias las áreas óptimas para exploraciones preliminares. Se encontraron algunas restricciones, por ejemplo, la velocidad de renderizado.This document present a Geovisor’s development process using web services, through a software engineering process, defined by an incremental model and by reuse of components, during the analysis, design and deploy stages. The viewer’s objective was to be a tool in the forecast of potential areas for geological-geotechnics’ exploration at Chocó’s department, due to its relevance according to the territorial planning over this department. The initial data were open source, in shapefile format, by which new layers were generated through ArcGIS’s models. The obtained result was the reuse of Postgres as an information backup, GeoServer as storage and GeoExplorer as web publisher, within the OpenGeo Suite 4.8 package. The viwer show the areas with minor environmental, social and operating impact, depicted as thematic layers by lithological unit; allowing the specialized final user visualize general information, along with other functionalities, and weight the optimums exploration areas according to his needs.
