El repositorio de sonidos naturales más grande de Colombia es la Colección de Sonidos Ambientales Mauricio Álvarez-Rebolledo del Instituto de Investigación de Recursos Biológicos Alexander von Humboldt, la cual fue fundada en 1998 y cuenta con aproximadamente 24.000 archivos de audio catalogados y sistematizados (Instituto de Investigación de Recursos Biológicos Alexander von Humboldt, 2019). Esta colección contiene registros de especies y de paisajes naturales de audio de los principales ecosistemas de Colombia en 30 departamentos colombianos, ubicados principalmente en la región de los Andes, el Caribe, La Orinoquia y Amazonia. El objetivo de esta pasantía fue reconocer la importancia de los repositorios acústicos en el país y realizar satisfactoriamente ajustes en la Colección de Sonidos del Instituto Humboldt.Acoustics is an increasingly relevant resource in the study of biota (Acevedo-Charry et al., 2021) and tropical regions are one of the most acoustically biodiverse places in the world (Luther & Gentry, 2013). The largest repository of natural sounds in Colombia is the Mauricio Álvarez-Rebolledo Environmental Sounds Collection of the Alexander von Humboldt Biological Resources Research Institute, which was founded in 1998 and has approximately 24,000 cataloged and systematized audio files (Institute of Biological Resources Research Alexander von Humboldt, 2019). This collection contains records of species and audio natural landscapes of the main ecosystems of Colombia in 30 Colombian departments, located mainly in the Andes, Caribbean, Orinoquia and Amazon regions.
