El cristianismo fue impuesto por los americanos y europeos a la población africana desde los tiempos de la esclavitud. Así el góspel, se ha convertido en símbolo de toda una cultura que sufrió una gran represión, y a partir de ahí, se generó un movimiento religioso basado en la conciencia de la colectividad afro, la esperanza y su deseo de “libertad”. Esta investigación traza la historia de los cánones musicales religiosos, quienes representan la fe de toda una población que se desarrolla en los tiempos de la esclavitud, y que se han difundido durante el siglo XIX, hasta nuestros días. Cantos de aquellos que estaban acostumbrados a vivir en medio de la “tribulación” y a reponerse ante la dificultad.The gospel music has been linked to the African-American Christian church, therefore the influence of this religion on its musical development is remarkable. Christianity was imposed by the Americans and Europeans on the African population since the times of slavery. That's why the gospel music, has become the symbol of an entire culture that suffered a great repression, and from there, a religious movement was generated based on the conscience of the afro collective, hope and their desire for "freedom". This work traces the history of the religious musical canons, which represent the faith of a whole population that develops in the times of slavery, and that was very important during the nineteenth century, to now.
